Jobs: September’s jobless rate ticks up in Floyd, down in Bartow; still higher than a year earlier (before the pandemic).

Rome, Bartow County and Northwest Georgia overall saw jobs increase in September. September first-time jobless claims dip in most NW Georgia counties; total still seven times higher than September 2019.

Northwest Georgia’s first-time jobless claims in September dropped by 8.5 percent compared to August reports but also were still eight times higher than the ninth month of 2019. Some 5,992 claims were filed with the Georgia Department of Labor last month vs. 6,550 in August and 838 in September 2019. It shows the market continues… Read more
