Darlington’s commencement weekend speakers will include retiring Dean of College Guidance Sam Moss (’63) at Baccalaureate and Darlington trustee Gretchen Corbin, president and CEO of the Georgia Lottery Corp., at commencement. Baccalaureate will take place Friday, May 13, at 7 p.m. in Morris Chapel. Commencement will be held Saturday, May 14, at 9:30 a.m. on the Chapel Lawn. In the event of rain, it will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the Huffman Athletic Center. Darlington will stream both events on YouTube

The Wizard of Oz. Show times at the DeSoto Theatre on Broad Street are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2:30 p.m. Sunday. A Saturday, May 14, matinee has been added at 2:30 p.m. From Rome Little Theatre, the show is directed by Mandy Maloney; produced by Daphne Arthur; with musical direction by James Willis and choreography by Hannah Camacho. Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for students and seniors and $15 per person for groups of 10 or more.
Weather permitting, the Cassville White Road bridge over I-75 will be closed Friday night through Monday morning while crews continue construction on the two roundabouts at the I-75 entrance and exit ramps. A detour will be set up for the duration of the bridge closure.
- WHEN: Friday, May 13 at 7:30 p.m. until Monday, May 16 at 5:30 a.m.
- DETOUR: The Cassville White Road bridge over I-75 will be closed. Traffic on the east side of the bridge will need to take Cassville White Road to US Highway 411 to Peeples Valley Road back north to Cassville White Road. Traffic on the west side of the bridge will take I-75 south to exit 293 then turn back on to I-75 north to Cassville White Road.
