That fireplace in the above collage of the Fairfield Inn & Suites adjacent to the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College will come in handy this weekend. The 81-room, $12 million hotel opens Friday just as some of the coldest temperatures of winter return (high Saturday: 38).
Ground was broken in November 2020 for the project off the Armuchee Connector. Supply chain issues had delayed the opening in recent weeks.
Marriott’s website offers this description of the hotel:
“Our hotel incorporates the history and values of Berry College along with the beauty of simplicity that is Fairfield’s heritage. The hotel pays homage to Berry and Rome with unique interactive art throughout the public spaces which invite guests to learn about these rich histories. The 81-room hotel offers many amenities such as complimentary breakfast, free wi-fi, a spacious fitness center, seasonal pool and our lobby restaurant, Baseline Bar. A truly unique feature to this Fairfield is the Baseline Bar where all guests are welcome to unwind with food and drinks in the afternoon and watch a tennis match or enjoy our view of Mount Berry.”
And speaking of sunset views: Here’s one from Jan. 19 courtesy of the hotel’s Facebook page.
Amenities include 77 rooms and four suites; free parking; up to two “well-behaved” pets per room and a noon checkout.
The hotel is the latest addition to the tennis center “campus” that started with the opening of the center itself in July 2016 and later saw the addition of six indoor courts. The tennis center welcomes back the ACC men’s and women’s tennis championships in April.
