Berry women’s game postponed by COVID (Hendrix):  Due to COVID-19 related issues with the Hendrix women’s basketball team, Berry’s Southern Athletic Association game against the Warriors that was scheduled to be played Sunday has been canceled. The Berry men’s team is still scheduled to play Hendrix on Sunday in Conway, Ark., with the tip-off rescheduled for 1 p.m. (ET).



COMMUNITY SPORTS
Georgia’s Rome Tennis Open, a $60,000 USTA Women’s Pro Circuit Event, will return to Rome Tennis Center at Berry College Jan. 31-Feb. 6. The tournament will feature some of the best up-and-coming players inside the top 100-250 in the WTA world rankings, from the USA and around the world. RomeTennisCenter.com
TRED Rome Floyd invites the public to participate in the first Assail the Trail 5K trail run and 1.2 mile walk on Saturday, Feb. 19 at the GE Trails at Garrard Park, 1935 Redmond Circle, Rome. The GE Trails were dedicated on February 18, 2017 and Assail the Trail marks the 5th birthday of the trail system.
The event promises to be unique including a birthday celebration for the trails after the run and walk. Age group awards will be given to the top finishers in the 5K run but the walk will not be timed. The 5K will begin at 9am and the 1.2 mile walk will begin at 9:15am. Participants are encouraged to arrive by 8:30 a.m. There will be no race day registration.
All proceeds go toward the continued expansion and maintenance of the GE Trails. The trails are maintained by a core group of dedicated volunteers with help from the City of
Rome Public Works Department.
