A Wednesday morning accident on I-75 north left a Rome woman dead and traffic stalled for hours. At one point, three of four northbound lanes on I-75 at Ga. 113 (near Kroger Marketplace) south to near LakePoint.

On Jan. 5, 2021, at 4:22 a.m., the Georgia State Patrol Post 3 Cartersville was requested to investigate a three-vehicle crash involving two tractor trailers and a passenger car on Interstate 75 North at mile marker 289.
The preliminary investigation shows that a black 2014 Toyota Camry, driven by Blanca Estela Arteaga, 24, of Rome, struck the rear of a 1995 Freightliner tractor trailer. After the impact, the Freightliner tractor trailer came to a controlled rest off the roadway. The Toyota Camry stopped in the right northbound lane of Interstate 75, with its lights not functioning.
A 2018 Freightliner tractor trailer was traveling north in the right lane and struck the rear of the Toyota Camry. This second impact caused both vehicles to travel across the northbound lanes of Interstate 75 into the median.
Ms. Arteaga suffered fatal injuries.
