Record-low jobless rates in November in our area, from 1.8% in Gordon County to 2.6% in Chattooga County.

Rome recorded an all-time low unemployment rate of 2 percent, down four-tenths of a percent over the month. A year ago, the rate was 4.5 percent.

“We are seeing the highest number of employed Georgians in our state’s history,” said Labor Commissioner Mark Butler. “Looking toward the new year, our focus is on attracting more people to join the workforce in 2022.”

ROME/FLOYD COUNTY:

  • The labor force increased in Rome by 22 and ended the month with 43,748. That number is up 91 when compared to November of 2020.
  • Rome finished the month with 42,877 employed residents.  That number increased by 212 over the month and is up by 1,200 when compared to the same time a year ago.
  • Rome ended November with 41,500 jobs. That number increased by 300 from October to November and increased by 1,100 when compared to this time last year.
  • The number of unemployment claims went down by 49 percent in Rome in November. When compared to last November, claims were down by about 88 percent.
  • Employ Georgia, the GDOL’s online job listing service at employgeorgia.com showed about 408 active job postings in Rome for November.

CARTERSVILLE/BARTOW COUNTY:

  • The labor force increased in November by 283 to 51,308. That number is up 1,282 over-the-year.
  • Bartow County ended November with an all-time high of 50,316 employed residents.  The number increased by 404 in November and was up 2,611 as compared to last year.
  • Initial claims for unemployment decreased by 28 percent in November. When compared to last November, claims were down about 89 percent.
  • Employ Georgia, the GDOL’s online job listing service at employgeorgia.com showed 546 active job postings in Bartow County for November.

NORTHWEST GEORGIA:

The region includes Bartow, Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Fannin, Floyd, Gilmer, Gordon, Haralson, Murray, Paulding, Pickens, Polk, Walker, and Whitfield counties.

  • The November preliminary unemployment rate was down two-tenths to 1.9 percent o-t-m, the rate was 4.2 percent one year ago.
  • The labor force was up 627 o-t-m and up 5,711 o-t-y, to 424,547.
  • The number of employed was up 1,654 o-t-m and up 15,223 o-t-y, to 416,555.
  • The number of employed was an all-time high.
  • Initial claims were down 392 (-26%) o-t-m and down 7,385 (-87%) o-t-y, to 1,147.
  • Initial claims were down o-t-m in Manufacturing and Construction, and down o-t-y in Manufacturing and Accommodation and Food Services.
  • There were 3,955 jobs posted on Employ Georgia.
