Rome Police: Suspect abandons car off Second Avenue, says he has dynamite; vehicle search and nothing is found; he’s in custody; roads reopen.om Broad Street to near Barron Stadium Monday afternoon.

From Rome Police:

At about 1:35 p.m., officers received a call of a suspicious person in the area of Second Ave. at West First Street. The male subject had abandoned his vehicle behind or near Tortaco and began banging on windows of businesses. Officer located the male who stated that he had dynamite in his vehicle. The area was closed down. The bomb squad arrived at the scene and cleared the vehicle. No weapons or dynamite was located. No injuries reported. The male subject will be charged with terroristic threats.  All roadways are cleared.
