Business: Harbor Freight Tools hopes to open in former Office Depot spot by spring, bringing 25 to 30 jobs to Calhoun.

Google Map shows the location of the former Office Depot, soon to be home to Harbor Freight Tools.

The Calhoun location of Office Depot closed in May but the site apparently won’t be idle for long.

It will soon be home to Harbor Freight Tools following a refit of the store at 389 Belmont Drive. It will become the third Harbor Freight in our area (Rome and Cartersville) and the 43rd location in Georgia. The target opening date is early spring.

We’ve been looking to open a location  in Calhoun for a while but we always want to find the right location—one that have good visibility and easy access, ample parking for our customers and the right size,” writes Craig Hoffman, the company’s Director of Corporate Communications and Content. “This location will be approximately 20,515 feet, smaller than the so-called Big Box stores in our category, which we think is a competitive advantage.  Many of our customers are professional tradespeople, who want to come in, find what they want easily and then head directly to their jobsite or shop.  For every customer, this makes browsing much easier.”

Look for “25 to 30 new well-paying jobs,” says Hoffman. Anyone interested in applying can go online to www.harborfreightjobs.com/retail  and search Calhoun, GA.
