Megan Ware had us at fried apple pie when Blossom Hill BBQ & Burgers opened  in June and the season switch to Georgia pecan is just as tempting.

But Monday, a national TV audience got to know more about the Darlington grad as she and Kate White, work partners at Honeymoon Bakery on Broad Street, competed — and won — The Food Network’s “Holiday Baking Championship: Gingerbread Showdown.” The theme: “Have Yourself a Scary Little Christmas” (think Abominable Snowman and ooey, gooey desserts). And there’s already a sequel in the works as you can see in the above photo. Starting Tuesday at 8 a.m., Ware and White will begin a six-hour- plus mission to recreate the TV masterpiece in the  main display window at Honeymoon Bakery, 228 Broad St. The finished creation will be on display through Christmas Eve.

From’Have Yourself a Scary Little Christmas’ episode: From left to right: Teena Ham and Cashe Clark; Megan Ware and Kate White; and Lindsay Deibler and Stacey Milner.

Honeymoon Bakery is a familiar name on The Food Network. In spring 2019, Kevin Dillmon — the owner of the bakery as well as Aventine and Blossom Hill — was among the competitors on the network’s Spring Baking Challenge. Dillmon was involved in a pretty intense cookie baking competition. For more on the show.
