Mr. Julius Avery Warren, age 80, of Rome, GA, passed away Tuesday evening, November 16, 2021, in a local health care facility.

Mr. Warren was born Bartow County, GA on February 6, 1941, son of the late George Warren, Sr. and the late Martha Gladys Johnson Warren.  He was also preceded in death by 8 siblings.  Prior to his retirement, Mr. Warren was a self-employed electrician.  He was also an ordained Gospel Minister and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Carol Mathews (Ricky), and Julie Hamilton, all of Silver Creek; 3 sons, Michael Warren (Christie), Aragon, Tony Warren, Silver Creek, and David Warren (Sonia), Aragon; a sister, Sandra Cook, Rome; 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 19, 2021, at 2pm at Silver Creek Baptist Church.  The Rev. Clinton Green will officiate.

The family will receive friends at Silver Creek Baptist Church on Friday from 12 until 2pm.

Ms. Joyce Marie Forrister, age 63, of Rome, GA, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 15, 2021, at a local hospital alongside family.

Ms. Forrister was born on January 27, 1958, in Norfolk, VA, daughter of Ernest Ray Harrell and the late Lois Marie Patterson.  She was also preceded in death by her brother, Rick Harrell.  An avid lover of travel, Atlanta Falcons, music, particularly Bon Jovi, thrifting, and down-home southern cooking, Joyce’s real and abiding passions were her family and dear friends.  She was greatly loved for her kind spirit and good humor, which will be missed by many.

She had a knack for photography and spent her years documenting all facets of her life. She worked in photography for 15 years and was a secretary for 10.  Joyce was a Christian and a member of North Rome Church of God in past years.

Survivors include her 2 children, Joe Gumingo and Lisa Frank; her father, Ernest Harrell; sister, Cathy Ferguson; brother, Chris Harrell; 3 grandchildren, Anthony Gumingo, Abby Gumingo and Emily Gumingo; nieces and nephews. All of these she loved and touched deeply.

In accordance with her wishes, Ms. Forrister will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held in the Spring of 2022.  A formal announcement will come later.

Reverend Earnest Diamond Jr., age 90, of Cedartown transitioned November 17, 2021.

Celebration of Life for Reverend Earnest Diamond Jr. will be Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at 12 noon at New Bethel Baptist Church in Collard Valley Community (Cedartown). Reverend Diamond will lie instate from 11 am until the hour of service. Interment will follow the service at Northview Cemetery in Cedartown.

*Public viewing for Reverend Diamond will be Monday, November 22, 2021 from 11 am until 6 pm at F. K. Jones Funeral Home and Tuesday, November 23, 2021 from 11 am until the funeral hour.

Mr. Edward Thomas Jackson of Silver Creek passed away on the evening of November 14, 2021 surrounded by family.

Mr Jackson was born in Floyd County on November 25, 1943, son of the late Edward Lewis Jackson and the late Opal Henry Jackson. He was a natural on the baseball field, playing all four years at Pepperell High School, where he was a member of the graduating class of 1961. Mr. Jackson was drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War, proudly serving as a Military Policeman, and climbing to the rank of an E-5 Sergeant.

After his military service, Mr. Jackson followed his passion for automobiles, and pursued an active career in the automobile industry; most notably for Lowe Oldsmobile Cadillac where he worked for over 25 years. Outside of his career, he enjoyed cooking for his family and friends, was an avid sports fan, and could almost always be found watching the Braves and the Falcons.

Mr. Jackson is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jeanette Scoggins Jackson, two children; Angie Garrard (Tony), Meridianville, AL; Bradley Jackson, Steamboat Springs, CO; two grandchildren Kyle Garrard, Savannah, GA; Kade Garrard, Athens, GA; nephew Marc Hyde, Lindale, GA.

A funeral service will be conducted Friday, November 19th at 1:30pm at Daniel’s Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12pm until the time of the service. A burial follow at Eastview Cemetery.

The Rev. Don Spears will be officiating. Pallbearers include Kyle Garrard, Kade Garrard, Tony Garrard, Marc Hyde, and Rob Broadnax. Honorary Pallbearers: Jack Copeland, Randolph Oswalt, Howard Alexander, Merv Gould, Steve Sorrow, Bruce Rood, Steve Rood, Buddy Keene,Tom Melton,Tom Caldwell and Roger Manis.
