Rockmart’s Pizza Farm continues comeback bid: The new year was barely a week old when a fire took out the storied Pizza Farm restaurant in Rockmart. A regional favorite open Thursdays through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. (especially the fried chicken), fire crews battled for hours but were unable to save the business.
Since then, the Sanders family has been working to rebuild, at a new location, and those efforts got a significant boost in October as the permits were issued and again last week when the concrete slab was poured across from Rockmart High School off Cartersville Highway (Ga. 113) and Marquette Road. It wasn’t that long ago when corn was growing at the new site for the restaurant.
As owner Robert Sanders notes: “ready for the walls to go up.” And Pizza Farm fans are ready for the doors to open.
Until then, construction crews will need some cooperative weather plus the Sanders family will be busy putting a staff back together. They’ll celebrate not only the return of Pizza Farm but the business 50th anniversary. Look for the hours and menu to mostly stay the same.
