Polk County Police: Chase that started in Gordon County, continued through Floyd ends in Rockmart with Rome man’s arrest (as bystanders played the ‘Cops’ theme nearby).

From Polk County Police: On Tuesday (Nov. 9), officers with the Uniformed Patrol Division were dispatched to the area of Highway 101 in reference to another agency in pursuit of a motorcycle with a male subject on it. The pursuit began in Gordon County, and then swapped over to Floyd County. As the pursuit continued through Floyd County, Floyd County terminated the pursuit near the Polk County Line.
Officers with B Shift spotted the motorcycle in the area of Highway 101 near the city limits of Rockmart. The motorcycle continued to drive erratically until our officers hit their emergency equipment.
The motorcycle initially failed to yield to our patrol officers but eventually came to a stop near the intersection of Highway 101/Highway 278 (near Bojangles). Upon the conclusion of the traffic stop, it was determined that the motorcycle was stolen.
Tyler L. Roden, 28, of Rome was taken into custody without incident. Roden also had warrants out of other jurisdictions. Suspected marijuana and methamphetamine were also located during the traffic stop.
We would like to thank the Rockmart Police Department with their assistance in closing down intersections during this traffic stop. Public safety is paramount during incidents like these.
Also, to the citizens playing the “Cops” theme song from the parking lot of Triangles while our officers were processing this stop, 10/10.
From Polk County Jail reports: Roden was charged with:
  • Possession of meth
  • Possession of marijuana
  • Theft by receiving
  • Obscuring tag frame
  • Improper lane change
  • Reckless driving
