Georgia State Patrol: All passengers escape vehicle that caught on fire after bizarre crash on I-75 Friday afternoon.

 

From the Georgia State Patrol:

  • Two vehicles were traveling north on I-75. Vehicle #1 was in the middle lane and vehicle #2 was in the left lane. Driver #1 lost control of the vehicle and rotated counter-clockwise, in front of vehicle #2 and off the west side of the interstate.
  • Vehicle #1 struck the face of the guardrail and re-entered the travel lanes of the interstate. Driver #2 swerved to the right to avoid striking vehicle #1 and traveled across all lanes of the interstate, striking the face of the guardrail off the east side of the roadway. After the impact, vehicle #2 also re-entered the Interstate and struck the rear of vehicle #1 in the middle lane.
  • After that impact, vehicle #1 became fully engulfed by fire. All occupants were able to get out of the vehicles and there were no injuries.
  • The report is not complete.

PREVIOUSLY

Traffic on I-75 north of Cass-White Road was jammed Friday afternoon by an accident with at least one vehicle on fire. It could take another hour to clear the area. Please use U.S. 41 North until the Ga. 140 intersection if you have to travel between Cartersville and Adairsville.
