Updated: Rome woman, 79, dies in accident on I-75 in Emerson; two others injured.

From Emerson Police Chief Kyle Teems:

On Wednesday, Nov. 3, at approximately 7:38 p.m., a Chrysler 300 driven by 79-year-old Joan Terrell from Rome was traveling north on I-75 just north of Red Top Mountain
Road when the vehicle left the west side of the roadway for unknown reasons, crossing over the median into the southbound lanes where it struck a 2021 Audi Q7 being driven by 54-year-old Shaley Tran from Valdosta with passenger Hai Tran, 54, also from Valdosta.

 A third vehicle, a 2013 Toyota RAV4 driven by 32-year-old Lucas Felak from Atlanta was traveling south and his car sustained minor damage from debris from the collision between the first two vehicles. He escaped injury.

The driver at fault, Joan Terrell, was deceased at the scene.

The Trans were transported by EMS to Kennestone Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Bartow County Coroner Joel Guyton told Hometown Headlines that Terrell died from multiple trauma caused by the accident.
