New concerts about windy weather heading our way. This update is from Courtney Taylor, the emergency management director of Gordon County:

“Good morning, everyone. We are sending this email to make everyone aware of the potential for damage tonight due to forecasted high winds for Gordon County. The forecast for maximum wind gusts has increased from Wednesday night into Thursday morning and should peak Thursday a.m., according to the National Weather Service. These winds could reach 30-50 miles per hour and persist over several hours. Downed trees and powerlines could result from these strong winds particularly across the higher elevations of North Georgia. Severe weather threat in the form of storms should stay to the south of Gordon County per the forecast. Widespread heavy rainfall or flooding is not expected during this weather event. “

WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 2 AM TO 6 PM EDT THURSDAY...

* WHAT...Southeast winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph
  expected. At elevations above 2000 ft gusts up to 45 mph are
  likley.

* WHERE...Much of north Georgia and especially at higher
  elevations.

* WHEN...From 2 AM to 6 PM EDT Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Some
  trees and tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages
  may result, especially at higher elevations.

Close to an inch of rain Thursday as temperatures continue to drop. Friday’s high: 57.

FORECAST

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 70. North wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

Wednesday Night: Showers likely after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 54. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Thursday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. High near 63. Southeast wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%.

Thursday Night: Showers likely, mainly before 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 51. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Friday: Showers likely, mainly after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 57. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Friday Night: Showers likely, mainly before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 50. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
