About Rome’s new downtown open container law: The City Commission approved year-round status at Monday’s meeting which means:

  • In the approved downtown footprint, you can carry a drink from restaurant to business each Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
  • The hours remains 11 a.m. until 11 p.m.
  • You must be using a designated cup by the Downtown Development Authority.
  • The change replaces the trial run of open containers set to expire this month.

Orangetheory Fitness now open at East Bend: The newest fitness center, with something of a different spin, held grand opening ceremonies last week and already is branching into the community. A little synergy is set with Blossom Hill BBQ & Burgers with a members/staff hangout from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12. Members showing their latest fitness report get a 12% food discount.

From September: Kohl’s at East Bend in Rome looked just about ready. Hometown photo.

Speaking of East Bend, Kohl’s remains scheduled to open this Sunday. The store will be open from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. (Through Nov. 11)
