The former IGA at 610 Shorter Ave. in West Rome is under lease.
Look for an existing Rome area business to move there, and expand, probably after the first of the year. The company is preparing a formal statement and we hope to share it later today. (It is not a new grocer but will be retail)
The spot has been looked at by several groups over the years. The signs went up recently for the 32,000-square-foot supermarket spot that anchors the strip center at the corner with Division Street. The area has seen some action in recent years with the construction of Redmond’s Urgent Care office across Shorter as well as the transformation of the former drug store into the CSL Plasma Donation office. The strip center itself has maintained a steady client base.
The lease comes almost four years after the IGA closed in January 2018. The center itself was built in 1986.
