Old Navy has opened at East Bend adjacent to Kohl’s off Turner McCall. With none of the hoopla associated with most new retail openings, it appears the store has been open for more than a week but most of the notice has been through person-to-person social media.
Sunday afternoon, a steady stream of cars drove by, seeing the “open” signs in the windows (which seemed more directed at the oldnavy.com website). Several people walked pensively to the double doors to be sure the fully stocked retailer was now available. A line six people deep was at the checkout station and of other folks were drifting aisle to aisle.
The store completed a buildout worth close to $600,000 at a snail’s pace. Part of the first wave of construction at the former Kmart site, the seemingly completed shell sat motionless for months. Next door, Kohl’s brought in a second wave of construction (valued at $2.6 million). More on it below.
As for Old Navy: The hours are 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and until 8 p.m. Sunday. The website says 7 on Sundays but . . . website.
The outlet store in Calhoun remains open as well. Facebook
So what’s next:
- Kohl’s is scheduled to open on Sunday, Oct. 31.
- Across Turner McCall, Ulta Beauty will open around mid November.
