Shana Michelle Strickland, age 50, died peacefully on October 3, 2021, at Floyd Medical Center in Rome, Georgia after being removed from life support on September 23, 2021.
Shana was born on October 7th, 1970, in Lubbock, Texas to Harold and Patsy Strickland. Several years later, Harold and Patsy moved the family to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In December 1986, Shana moved with her mother and sister to Rome, GA. Shana later moved to Duluth, GA. Upon graduating from East Rome High School, Shana attended the Nursing School at Shorter College where she graduated in 1993 with her Associate of Science Degree in Nursing.
Shana is survived by her mother Patsy Strickland, stepfather Wayne Mullins, brother Harold Strickland and his wife Emily, sister Sheri Lax and her husband Jeff, niece Alaina Michelle Lax, stepbrother Bryan Mullins, and stepsister Meredith Mullins.
Shana enjoyed spending time with family and friends and playing with her many animals. Truly a passionate animal lover, she never met an animal she didn’t love. Shana was a beautiful person inside and out and had a bright and energetic personality. She touched many lives with her presence and big heart.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life gathering at 11 am, Saturday October 23rd in the chapel at Daniel’s Funeral Home located at 901 East 2nd Ave., Rome, GA. Calvin Dwayne Barnes, age 57, of Dalton passed away Wednesday October 6, 2021 in a Dalton hospital.
Calvin was born June 10, 1964, in Floyd County a son of the late Jimmy Ray Barnes, and Sarah Hilsman Barnes. He was employed by Republic Waste Management. Calvin was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Joe Barnes, and a sister Glenda Faye Cato.
Survivor include his son, Jeremy (Melissa) Barnes, daughter Felecia Barnes, Sister, Rhonda Maestas, step-son, Juston Hobbs, step-daughter, Jessie Hobbs, grandchildren, Caroline Kirby, Jade Hobbs, and Ava Roland.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday October 11, 2021 at Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the funeral hour, at Good Shepherd Funeral Home.
Pallbearers include the following gentlemen and are asked to meet at the funeral home by 1:30 P.M. on Monday, Cliff Morgan, Ricky Walters, Doug Walters, Kirstopher Hicks, David Parts, and Eric Shaw.
Honorary pallbearers include, Bobby Graham, Dustin Loftis, Justin Hobbs, and Michael Brown.
Ms. Tina Louise Harbin, 59, of Buchanan, died Thursday, October 7, 2021 in a Carrollton hospital following a brief illness.
A native of Floyd County, she was born in Rome June 9, 1962, a daughter of the late William Worley and the late Margaret Sue Cromer Worley. Ms. Harbin had made her home in Cave Spring and Rockmart prior to moving to Buchanan a couple of years ago. Ms. Harbin had been a personal care giver prior to ill health, and was of the Baptist faith, having attended the Philadelphia Baptist Church in Calhoun.
Ms. Harbin is survived by two sons, Jason Harbin of Rome and Brandy Harbin and Tina Louise of Buchanan; by one daughter, Candy Hill and her husband Kalum of Centre; by her partner, Fred Donald Bagley of Buchanan; and by four grandchildren, Rebekah Harbin, Emma Grace Hill, Sarah Beth Hill and Emmett Edwards. Three sisters, Mrs. Cynthia Highfield of Calhoun, Mrs. Wanda Sissom (Junior) and Ms. Shelia LeCroy, both of Silver Creek; a brother, William Lamar Davis of Cedartown and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Ms. Harbin will be held Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at John House’s Cave Spring Chapel at 2:00 P.M. with Mr. William Lamar Davis officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 1:00 P.M. until the service hour.
