Mr. Willie Harold Cowart, age 84, of Rome, GA, passed away on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at a local hospital.

Mr. Cowart was born in Rome, Georgia on November 17, 1936, son of the late Clarence Cowart and the late Louise Smith Cowart.  The Cowart family traveled the Southeast as the Southern Breeze Blue Grass Band.  He was a member of the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame, an amazing banjo player and a musician for over 64 years.  Mr. Cowart served his country in the United States Marines Corps.  He was a plumber and owned his own business, H & D Plumbing, for 36 years.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Cowart was preceded in death by his first wife, Rena Jean Carter Cowart, by his daughter, Sarah Darlene Cowart, by his grandson, Chris Cowart, and by one brother and four sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Pearline Stamey Cowart; children, Janice Coppock (Mike), Dean Cowart, Billy Joe Cowart (Marie), Cindy Puckett (Buddy), and Steve Cowart (Connie); eleven grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; brother, Gene Cowart (Beverly); several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 8, 2021, at 1:00 pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Jackie Buchanan and the Rev. Steve Cowart officiating.  Interment will follow at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with the American Legion Post #5 Honor Guard presenting military honors.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 7, 2021, at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

Pallbearers are asked to assemble ON Friday, October 8, 2021, at 12:30 pm and include:  Steve Wright, Jr., Bill Menard, Caleb Thomasson, Bradley Williams, Chad Williams, and Luke Williams.

Randall “Randy” Lynn Davis, age 74, of Rome, Georgia passed away on Friday, October 1, 2021. Randy was born October 31, 1946 in Rockmart, Georgia. He was the son of the late Mary Evelyn Wilson Davis and the late Jack C. Davis. Randy was a 1965 graduate of Coosa High School.

He is survived by his wife Sandra “Sandy” Rickman Davis, daughter Elizabeth Davis, son Matt Davis (Tonya), grandson Brody Davis of Myrtle Beach, brother Billy Joe Davis (Darcy) of Orlando. He is also survived by his beloved dog Wilson. Randy along with his family owned and operated WLAQ 1410 AM/96.9 FM in Rome, Georgia.

There will be a private inurnment service at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. conducted by Father Rafael Carballo and Deacon Stuart Neslin.

A Celebration of a Life Well Lived Service will be held at Three Rivers Club at State Mutual Stadium at 755 Braves Blvd NE, Rome, GA 30161 later the same day at 2:00 p.m.

Mr. Donnie Ray Tate, age 64, of Rome transitioned October 3, 2021. Graveside Services for Mr. Tate will be Monday, October 11, 2021 at 11 am at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens (2549 Shorter Ave NW, Rome, GA 30165).

Mr. Marvin Randolph “Randy” Roberson, age 93, of Rome, GA, passed away Friday, October 1, 2021, at his residence.

Mr. Roberson was born in Floyd County, GA on December 6, 1927, son of the late Charles and Velma Kay Roberson.  He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Beatrice Blair Roberson, by a granddaughter, Dusti Edwards, by a son-in-law, Mike Siniard, by a sister, Josephine Agan, and by 2 brothers, Junior and Howell Roberson.

Mr. Roberson was a veteran of the United States Army Reserves.  He began his work career at the Lindale Mill before moving to Bekaert Steel Wire and retiring there first.  He then began his employment in the maintenance department at Shenandoah Plastics before retiring again.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman with an extreme love for the outdoors.  He was truly a modern day “Daniel Boone.”  He, with his wife, traveled the United States in their Airstream trailer, volunteering at numerous national parks, and living the life of their dreams.  He was a devout Christian, reading his Bible daily.  Mr. Roberson was a major influence in the lives of many, having a tremendous impact on their lives.

Survivors include 4 daughters, Wanda Southerland (Michael), Rome, Patricia Siniard, Aragon, Donna Long (Steve), Gulf Shores, AL, and Penny Morrow (Bobby), Rome; a brother, Houston Franklin Roberson, Armuchee; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 8, 2021, at 1pm at the graveside in Wax Cemetery.  His son-in-law, the Rev. Michael Southerland, will officiate.

The family extends a special “thank you” to the caregivers of Transitions Hospice and The Harbor at Renaissance Marquis for the care they gave to Mr. Roberson.

Ms. Mary King, age 90, of Rome, Georgia, passed away on Sunday October 3, 2021 at a local health care facility following months of declining health.
