Ms. Jennifer June Ballard Reed Berg, age 43, of Armuchee, GA, passed away on Friday, September 17, 2021, at a hospital in Atlanta, GA.

Jennifer was born on April 17, 1978, in Leonardtown, MD, daughter of Dennis Allan Berg and June Yvonne Pasley Berg.  She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Leonard and Jean Berg, Gene and Yvonne “Mommom” Pasley and Jerry Eugene Cavin.  Jennifer was a 1996 graduate of Armuchee High School.  She was an estimator for Liverett Fabrications for 15 years.  To know Jen was to love her, she did not meet a stranger.  To say she was a fan of the GA Bulldogs was an understatement, she bled red and black… GO DAWGS!

Survivors include 4 children, Cody Ballard (Hannah Rayley), Luke Reed, Maddie Reed and Mason Reed, all of Rome; her parents, Dennis and Yvonne Berg, Rome; sister, Jackie Wofford (Todd), Rome; brothers Dennis Berg, Armuchee, and Billy Pasley, Rome; grandmother, June Cavin, Rome; aunts and uncles, Billie Wall, Rome, Dale Edwards, Rome, Cindy Kirby (Rickey), Fairmount, Richard Pasley (Leah), Rome, David Cavin (Amy), Pendergrass, Lisa Hill (Tommy), Cedar Bluff, AL, Michelle Pasley, Buckhead, Sandra Bowen, Rome, Karen Lunsford (Chuck), Greenwood, IN, David Berg, Lexington Park, MD, Betsy Darr (Jim), Falls Church, VA, and Larry Berg (Pam), Jacksonville, FL; her niece and nephews, Brody, Toree and Kace Wofford; numerous cousins.

Funeral services will be held on at 3pm on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, with the Rev. Phil Wade officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 1pm until 3pm on Thursday at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel.

Pallbearers are to assemble by 2:30pm on Thursday and include; active, Brody Wofford, Drew Hill, Mark Edwards, Larry Ballard, Jerrod Cavin, Jayce Bannister and Travis Thompson; honorary, Matt Pharr.


 Alfredo Escutia Cornejo Jr., age 25, of Rome, passed away on Friday, September 10, 2021.

Alfredo was born in Rome, Georgia on October 6, 1995, son of Alfredo C. Cornejo and Soledad Escutia Lopez.  He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force and was of the Catholic faith.  Alfredo worked as a forklift driver for Steel King.

Survivors include his parents, Alfredo C. Cornejo and Soledad Escutia Lopez; two sisters, Estefany Cornejo and Karimy Cornejo; six half-siblings, Jennifer Cornejo, Ally Cornejo, Rosely Cornejo, Lily Cornejo, JoseRey Cornejo, and Joselyn Cornejo; two stepbrothers, Alan Bibian and Christopher Hernandez.

A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at 12 noon at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Cedartown.  Interment will follow in Rome Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Tuesday from 5 until 8pm.  Masks are requested at the visitation and the mass.


Ms. Bobbie Elkins, age, 84 of Rome, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at a local hospital.

Homegoing service will be held on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 1:00 P.M. at House of Prayer Holiness Church,1505 Crane St SW, Rome, GA 30161. Final resting place and internment will follow at Eastview Cemetery.

Mrs. Shirley Jeanelle Hunt Browning, of Armuchee, GA, passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at a local hospital

Mrs. Browning was born June 8, 1936 in Fruithurst, AL, the daughter of the late James D. Hunt and the late Nellie Ferguson Hunt.   She was also preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Browning and her sisters, Pauline Hunt Weaver and Ruth Hunt Brooks, Myrtle Hunt, and Este Hunt Palmer; her brothers Arlin Hunt, Joseph William Hunt, and Ernest Hunt.  She was an angel here on earth.  She loved everyone she met and she was loved by all.  She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She is survived by her son, Danny Browning and his wife Lynn; daughter, Diane Bradford and her husband Ben; sisters, Sarah Daughtery and Frances Gaddis; brothers, Franklin Hunt and Leroy Hunt; grandchildren, Brittany Browning, Anthony Browning and Dusty SanMiguel; great-grandchildren, Lexi, Lily and Lien Browning.

Funeral services will be held on  Friday, September 24, 2021, at 2:00 pm, at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel,  with Dr. Charles Bishop and Rev. Randy Giles officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens, Cartersville, GA.

Elizabeth Claire Price Kempson, age 92, of Rome passed away Saturday September 18, 2021 at her residence.

Mrs. Kempson was born May 29, 1929, in Chattanooga Tennessee, a daughter of the late James William Price, and Hilda Pause Price. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, and she was a homemaker. Mrs. Kempson was a 1947 graduate of Girls High. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Kempson, son, David Kempson, siblings, Edwin Price, Junior Price, and Louise Price.

Suvivors include her son and daughter in law, Peter and Lora Kempson, grandson, Brandon (Erica) Kempson, great grandchildren, Landon Timms, Annabelle Kempson, Emma Kempson.

Carol was born on March 12, 1944 in Calhoun GA., to the late Robert Dillard and Gladys Dillard. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill Leach and her brother: Bob Dillard
Survivors include her son Steve Peek.

Tracy was born December 9, 1969 in Floyd County. She was a homemaker.

Richard G. (Rich) Head, age 80 of Lindale, passed away Saturday September 18, 2021 at his residence.
Mr. Head was born March 14, 1941 in Polk County, son of the late Richard Calvin Head, and Beatrice Carter Head. He was retired from Richs Auto Jobber which he owned. Mr. Head was a veteran of the United States Navy serving from 1966 until 1969, a member of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lynn Hensley Head.
Survivors include his son, Russ (Shala) Head, granddaughter, Maggie Jo Head, brother, Tony (Carolyn) Lombard, a very special lady, Linda York, and her special son Stuart York.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday September 22, 2021 at Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Greg Burgner, officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens, with Post Five Honor Guard conducting military rites. The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. until the funeral hour on Wednesday at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome, Ga. 30165.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
