Georgia State Patrol: Cartersville man, 22, dies in truck collision on U.S. 411; Ohio man, a passenger in an accident on I-75, sustains fatal injuries.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating two fatal accidents in Bartow County. Both reports are preliminary. The latest:

Accident claims 22-year-old Cartersville man: On Sept. 16, at 7 a.m., the Georgia State Patrol Post 3 Cartersville was requested to investigate a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 411 near mile marker 6. The preliminary investigation shows that vehicle #1 was attempting to cross over the west bound lanes of the highway to turn left onto eastbound 411.

Vehicle #2 was traveling west in the left lane. It struck the left rear of vehicle #1’s trailer in the left lane of 411. The driver of vehicle #2, Rodger L. Chute, 22, of Cartersville, sustained fatal injuries. The Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is assisting with this investigation.

Ohio man dies in I-75 single-vehicle accident: On Sept.16 at 3:08 a.m., the Georgia State Patrol Post 3 Cartersville was requested to investigate a single vehicle crash on Interstate 75 South near mile marker 295 in Bartow County.  A 2021 Ford Explorer driven by Keith Martin was traveling south on Interstate 75 approaching mile marker 295. The vehicle exited the roadway on the right side and traveled down the embankment striking a ditch.

After the initial impact, the vehicle rotated and struck a tree with its rear. After the second impact, the vehicle continued rotating striking a second tree with its front. The passenger,  Jamie Flint, 55, from Englewood, Ohio suffered fatal injuries. Martin was transported to Floyd Medical Center in Rome with non-life threatening injuries. The Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collison Reconstruction Team is assisting with this investigation.
