Northwest Georgia’s first look at August employment trends is a good one.
Compared to a year ago, 1,000 more people were working last month vs. August 2020. The labor force was at 40,600 vs. 39,600 12 months earlier. There was no change from July as we’ve stayed at about the same level going back to March.
Jobless claims in all five counties continued to drop from pandemic highs. In August 2020, a combined 6,550 people filed first-time claims vs. 1,074 last month.
