Mrs. Cassie Elaine Williams, age 70, of Rome transitioned September 12, 2021. Service for Mrs. Cassie Elaine Williams will be Monday, September 20, 2021 at 1 pm at Lovejoy Baptist Church. Mrs. Williams will lie instate from 12 noon until the service hour. Interment will follow the Service at Eastview Cemetery. Masks are required.

Mr. Emory Wayne Green, age 86, of Rome, GA. passed away on Saturday, September 11, 2021.

Mr. Green was born in Rome, GA on February 21, 1935, son of the late Harold Green and the late Clara Cooper Green.  He graduated from Armuchee High School in 1953 and started his military career at the age of 18.  Mr. Green enlisted in the United States Air Force in November 1953 and served for 20 years.  Master Sergeant Green retired from the United States Air Force in November of 1973.

Upon retirement from the Air Force, Mr. Green worked for the Georgia Power Company and subsequently retired there also.  He earned his Bachelors Degree in Business from Berry College in 1983.  Mr. Green was a faithful member of Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church and taught Sunday School and sang in the church choir for several years.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Diane Green, Armuchee; his daughter, Keeley Matthews, Rome; his former spouse, Beth Green, Rome; 4 grandchildren, Suzanne Fulgham, Boulder, CO, Stephen Green and wife Desiree, Okinawa Japan, Brittney Davenport and husband Mark, Tega Cay, SC, Austin Matthews and wife Taylor, Armuchee; 6 great grandchildren, Tucker and Emma Green, Wesley Fulgham, Avery and Addison Davenport, and Hughston Matthews; his brother and wife Norman and Sue Green, Rome; and many treasured nieces and nephews.

A private committal service with full military honors will take place at the Georgia National Cemetery on a future date.


Rose Marie Remington, age 91, of Rome, Georgia passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021. Rose was born June 12, 1930. Daniel’s Funeral Home.


Erma Braden, age 96, of Rome, Georgia passed away on Friday, September 10, 2021. Erma was born July 21, 1925. Daniel’s Funeral Home.


Billy Wade Prater, age 79, of Rome passed away Monday September 13, 2021 at a local hospital.
Billy was born on July 26, 1942 in Dekalb County AL. To the late William Marion Prater and Alma Lee Cothran Prater. He was a member of Armuchee Church of God. He worked at Fox manufacturing for many years before retiring from Spears Mattress. He was preceded in death by a son Mark Wade Prater and brother Dwight Prater.
Survivors include his wife: Norma Hardin Prater; step daughter: Valerie (Charlie) Schopmann; grandchildren: C.T. Caldwell, Alexis Schopmann, Dylan Schopmann, Courtney Boyd, Stephanie Whittemore; 3 great grandchildren; sisters: Shelby Weeks, Betty (Carl) McCullough; sister in law: Ginger Miles.
Graveside and interment services will be held at 2:30 PM on Thursday September 16, 2021 at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with Rev. Barry McCullough and Rev. Charles Izell officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 2:30 PM on Thursday at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome GA. 30165.
Pallbearers include the following gentlemen: Kerry McCullough, Seth McCullough, Matt Rumphol, Trey Stephens, Tony Cantrell, Barry McCullough.
Parnick Jennings Sr.’s Good Shepherd Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
