Buzz: Household hazardous waste/electronics recycling set for Sept. 18; appointments required. Elections board meets Sept. 14. Grant writing workshop is Thursday.


The Community Foundation for Greater Rome will partner with the Rome-Floyd Chamber to host a Grant Writing workshop at the Chamber on Thursday,
Sept. 9, at 4 p.m. Community Foundation executive director Ashley Garner will offer grant writing tips and strategies as part of the Chamber’s Nonprofit Roundtable series.

With over 15 years in nonprofit fundraising and grantmaking, Garner offers an insider’s perspective for nonprofit professionals on what grantmakers are looking for in grant proposals.
Garner will also announce details of the Community Foundation’s 2021 Greater Rome Impact Grant application process during the workshop. The grant is the Community Foundation’s flagship grant program, investing nearly $200,000 in grant funds since 2017. This year’s grant proposals will be due on Oct. 8.

The Community Foundation is a nonprofit foundation working to empower donors in Greater Rome to give generously. The Community Foundation has distributed over $1
million to more than 60 charitable organizations since 2016. Donors can learn more by contacting Garner at agarner@cffgr.org or 706-728-3453.


The Floyd County Board of Elections will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 14, in the Community Room located in the County Administration Building at 12 E. Fourth Ave. Caucus will begin at 11:30 a.m. with the meeting immediately following.  The meetings are open to the public.  Citizens who wish to attend in person are asked to follow the guidelines set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  For more information, please contact the Elections & Registration office at 706-291-5167.
