Business: Deposits in Floyd County banks rose by 13.4% since last year to $2.12 billion. Plus: Regional reports.

 

The annual deposit summaries from Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. through June 30 of this year are now available. Overall, total deposits through June 30 were $2.12 billion for Floyd, vs 13.4% from $1.87 billion a year earlier. Market shares among the nine banks with offices in Floyd changed in a few spots but overall, the regional banks held more than 70% of the deposits with the rest shared by Rome’s three community banks.

2021 report:  Synovus held the top spot again but lost a bit of market share — even with more deposits — from the 2020  report. United Community Bank again finished second but also saw a bit less of the total deposits share even as net deposits grew. Regions’ share eased a bit while Truist (former SunTurst Bank) slipped to no. 5  as Well Fargo moved up to fourth.

The local banks saw Greater Community Bank at $192.9 million, up from $171.4 million, followed by River City Bank with $186.9 million in deposits (vs. $155 million) and Heritage First Bank at $182.6 million (vs. $150 million. Bank OZK had gains to $117.7 million from $84.8 million last year.

Around the region:

  • Bartow County, a combined 17 bank offices had combined deposits of $1.86 billion,  up from $1,66 billion a year ago.
  • Gordon County, just over $1 billion vs. $987.6 million a year earlier. Combined totals for 12 bank offices.
  • Polk County, $431.6 million vs. $408.4 million as of June 30, 2020.
  • Chattooga County, $375.9 million from six bank offices combined.
