An “anti-mandate” rally is set for Friday along the footpath of the Levy wall at Heritage Park in Rome.
The assembly permit filed with the Rome Police Department shows the assembly will be from 3:30 until 7 p.m. The assembly type is listed as “peaceful assembly.”
The application shows the assembly “designees” as Britney Maner and now Julia Sloss of Rome; an earlier applicant has removed herself. A crowd of about 100 people is expected.
Included: “We request law enforcement be present to ensure that everything remain peaceful and civil.” The permit fee has been paid.
Earlier social media for the event states the rally is supporting “frontline heroes who refuse to have their freedoms stripped away.”
It is scheduled during what will be a busy time already in downtown Rome. The Rome High Wolves have a football game at Barron Stadium at 7:30 p.m. Friday plus a First Friday concert is set for Town Green beginning at 7.
