With the sale of Cartersville Medical Center to Piedmont Health now complete, the Cartersville-Bartow Chamber helped with ribbon-cutting ceremonies on Tuesday.
In a small ceremony Tuesday, Piedmont Healthcare cut the ribbon on its purchase of what is now known as Piedmont Cartersville Medical Center. The deal with Cartersville’s then parent company, HCA Healthcare, was announced in May and was finalized over the weekend.
That leaves HCA’s other pending sale, Redmond Regional Medical Center, yet to close.
We checked with AdventHealth, the company buying Redmond (and parent of AdventHealth Gordon), on Monday to see where that deal was. Here’s the latest:
“AdventHealth is excited about the opportunity to offer our unique promise of whole-person care to the Northwest Georgia region and Rome community. In May 2021, we signed a definitive agreement to purchase Redmond Regional Medical Center from HCA Healthcare. The agreement also includes the hospital’s related businesses, physician clinic operations, outpatient services and all issued and outstanding equity interests. This transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals, which have not been completed at this time. Therefore, we do not have a definitive closing date.
“The planning required to bring this wonderful health care facility into the AdventHealth family is well under way. However, until closing, current ownership will remain in place. We are committed to working with HCA Healthcare to ensure a seamless transition for team members, physicians and consumers. Our goal is to retain the Redmond Regional Medical Center employees. We recognize the skilled and compassionate service they have provided the community and look forward to partnering with them to continue and enhance the delivery of care.
“We will share more information about future plans once we have a definitive closing date. “
The Redmond/Advent deal will complete a busy year of healthcare mergers and acquisitions in Northwest Georgia. The Floyd/Atrium deal was finalized last month as was the Piedmont/Cartersville purchase.
