Hikers who frequent the reservoir at Berry College found some unexpected changes over the weekend. The area has been closed as some repairs are planned.

Says Berry’s Chris Kozelle:

“The reservoir’s earthen dam, as well as the infrastructure that supplies water to the college, is scheduled for renovations. At the current time, water from the reservoir is being drained down to a certain level and once that level is reached, the renovation of the earthen dam as well as water supply infrastructure work will begin. Obviously, weather will play a big part not only in the renovations but also in the amount of time it takes to reduce the reservoir’s water level and therefore it is difficult to place a time frame on when the renovations will be complete.”

Reports of the closing of the 4.3-mile loop around the reservoir are included on the Alltrails.com website as well.

Pipeline work leads to canceling of Running Water Powwow over Labor Day

The 32 Annual Running Water Powwow is canceled again this year. In 2020, it was COVID concerns. This year, it is the Atlanta Gas pipeline construction per organizers. The event had been set for Sept. 4 and 5 at Ridge Ferry Park.  Please keep track of future updates at the Facebook page.
