Slowly, Old Navy is making its way to East Bend.
The latest word comes from the words displayed big and huge in the store’s front windows now on display. It was assumed the store would open in time for the Christmas shopping season; the signage saw “opening this fall” so there you go. Also, hiring continues with the first “help wanted” ad posted back in May for a general manager. Additional listing are posted here.
Some $600,000 in permits have been issued to finish with build out of the store that has stood empty for months. Five Below opened in February and soon after, Kohl’s began construction of its adjoining store. All but one of the new restaurants has opened — Fazoli’s is due next month — and some retailer are on site as well, from Xfinity to eyeware to nails.
The Rome opening will come after the back-to-school shopping sprees. There’s always the Old Navy outlet in Calhoun.
Old Navy’s parent, The Gap, pulled out of Mount Berry Mall in 2009. At the time, a store manager predicted a quick return, stating the company was pleased with its performance in Rome. Twelve years later ….
