Emerson Mack Abbott Sr., 53, of Cave Spring, died Saturday afternoon, June 5, 2021, in a Rome hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Mr. Abbott was born July 27, 1967 in Rome, Georgia, son of Mrs. Lorene Hicks Abbott and the late William Thomas Abbott, Sr. Mr. Abbot was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, worked with his father as a tree surgeon and as an electrician for 20 years, and had also been associated with Joe Hill’s Lawnmower Shop for a number of years.  Mr. Abbott was of the Baptist faith, and enjoyed cooking and helping anyone he could.

Mr. Abbott was preceded in death by his father, and by a sister Mrs. LaDonda Yother.

Survivors include his wife, the former Linda Elrod, to whom he was married February 14, 1991; his children, Emerson Mack Abbott Jr., Britaneca Hendrix of Cedartown, Jacob Abbott and his fiancé Della Robinson of Rome, and Cody Abbott of Cave Spring; and six grandchildren. His mother, Mrs. Lorene Abbott of Rome and his siblings, William Thomas Abbott Jr. and his wife Elaine of Oneona, AL., James Abbott and his wife Ann of Dawsonville, Richard Abbott and his wife Cathy of Cedartown, Pam French of Rainbow City, AL., and Susie Parker of Centre, AL. also survive.

In keeping with his wishes, Mr. Abbott was cremated and no formal services are planned.

The family plans to honor Mr. Abbott with a family cookout at home in the near future.

Mr. Clive Hamilton Baker, age 91, of Rome, passed away Saturday, June 5th. 2021, at his residence.
Mr. Baker was born October 2, 1929, in Floyd County, GA., a son of the late George Baker and Josephine Busby Baker.
He was drafted into the Army in 1948 and was discharged in 1952. He was a member of Rome Church Of Christ. Mr. baker was a Hall of Fame member of Ga. Mountain Music, and an avid golfer. Mr. Baker loved baseball, collecting eagles, gardening, painting, and telling jokes.
Besides his parents, Mr. Baker was proceeded in death by his wife, Janny Ruth Baker, to whom he was married to on June 6th, 1953, by two sister, Elsie Broom and Sandra Bowman, by two brothers, Mather Baker and Arlen Baker, and by two grandchildren, Darian Baker and Daysia Knox.
Survivors include three sons, Randy Baker, Rome; Steve (Tammie) Baker, Rome; Darryl (Kathy) Baker, Summerville, Ga; daughter, Yvonne (Terry) Hitt, Rome; two brothers, Alfred Baker, Rome; Myron Baker, Rome; a sister, Dian Butler, Rome; grand-children, Stephanie baker, Rome; Michael (Mitzi) Hitt, Jacksonville, Fl.; Jessica Baker, Rome; and Derek (Sammi) Hitt, Melborne, Australia; great-grand children Alexis Davis, Kierstyn Baker, Addyson Haynes, Logan Hitt, and Claire Hitt. One great-great granddaughter, Presleigh Davis.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 8th, at 12pm in the chapel of Parnick Jennings, Sr’s Good Shepherd Funeral Home, with Mr. Steve Rogers officiating, and several family members to do the eulogy.
Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens, with the American Legion, Post 5 Honor Guard, conducting military rights.
The family will receive friends from 10am till the funeral hour, on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at Parnick Jennings, Sr’s Good Shepherd Funeral Home.
The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers; Nevin Baker, Jeff Baker, Joe Baker, Tommy Baker, Jason Atkinson, Jamie Stanley, and Warren Davis.
The family would like to thank Heyman Hospice for their great care of Mr. Baker.
