After the COVID pandemic canceled most in-person college and high school graduations last year, most local colleges and high schools have plans to hold in-person ceremonies this years with some COVID protocols in place. Some colleges will have multiple ceremonies to provide a more socially-distanced event, while others will have outdoor events. Georgia Northwestern Technical College will still hold a drive-through service. Here is a listing of upcoming college and high school graduation services in Northwest Georgia:

WHAT’S NEXT

Thursday, May 13: Georgia Highlands College Commencement will be held outside at the Floyd Campus grounds with ceremonies at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. The Nursing Pinning and Commencement ceremony will be at 3 p.m. For the first time in many years, the Georgia Highlands College commencement ceremony will return to the Floyd Campus. The college’s first graduate was given a special commencement ceremony in the president’s office on the Floyd Campus in 1971. In remembering the celebration of the first graduate’s success at the original GHC location, it is a good time to mark this as a new tradition moving forward as GHC concludes celebrating its 50th year and moves into the next 50 years. More details on the Commencement service will be released this week.
