A collection of updates from our social media channels: Facebook, the Tweeter Machine and others…
Item 1: The latest East Bend opening today, Tropical Smoothie Cafe
Our take: Deals of the day. Free smoothies for a year for the 50 in line… $2.99, 24-ounce smoothies all day. Nice.
Item 2: Blossom Hill barbecue and burgers: “Opening date to be announced soooon! #gettingclose.” Also, Public Health gives Blossom Hill a 100 on the preopening inspection.
Our take: Talk about a room with a view! Whew.
Item 3: NAACP, Redmond vaccination clinic: With food and a TV giveaway May 15.
Our take: You had us at free hot dogs and hamburgers — but a chance to win a brand new TV for getting a lifesaving vaccination? Nice.
Item 4: Cartersville newspaper dropping carriers; mail delivery next. One less box needed by the street.
Our take: Before you join in another chorus of “newsprint blues,” this is what the newspaper posted: “Due to the inability to contract enough motor route carriers to ensure dependable home delivery, The Daily Tribune News is converting to USPS delivery effective Wednesday, May 19.” Remember The Daily Tribune News converted from six-day to three-day delivery last fall. The online edition is behind a pay wall.
