Buzz: Pepperell High students host community job fair Monday. Rome-Floyd Recycling Center’s Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics collection set for May 15. Exchange Club helps Bagwell Food Pantry.

Pepperell High School’s Work Based Learning Program is hosting a communitywide job fair for students and adults on Monday, May 10, from 4 until 6 p.m. outside Pepperell High School (in the front parking lot, 3 Dragon Drive). Jobs will be available for all working ages. “We will have employers representing Floyd County Police, Fire, 911, game & fish, Floyd County Schools Substitutes and Floyd County Schools Transportation.” For more.

 


 

The Rome-Floyd Recycling Center is hosting a Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics collection event on Saturday, May 15, at 412 Lavender Drive.  Hours: 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.; appointments are required with a limit to the 540.  Please call 706-291-5266 between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday thru Thursday, or Friday, May 14, to make an appointment.  You can leave a message after hours but it will not be confirmed until you actually talk with someone.  No appointments can be scheduled after 5 p.m. May 14 or on the day of the event. Items typically received include used motor oil, paint, herbicides, pesticides, or any unknown liquid.  Electronic items typically include televisions, computers, printers, recorders and other similar items.


On Tuesday, the Exchange Club presented the Bagwell Food Pantry with a check for $642 through our Community Service Committee. This check will purchase anywhere from two to six tons of food depending on the price per pound at purchase time.
