Mr. Charles Wayne Broome, age 82, of Rome, GA, passed away on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at his residence.

Mr. Broome was born in LaFayette, Georgia on August 14, 1938, the son of the late Martin Hershel Broome and the late Mattie Lou Smith Broome.  He was a designer and draftsman.  He loved woodworking and playing the guitar.  Mr. Broome was a member of Cornerstone Church.  He was a good husband and father.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bennie Broome.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Alva Jean Hibbert Broome; his children, Sandra Broome, Ginger Wilson (Cameron) and Mitchell Broome.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at 2:00pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, with the Rev. Jody Hagerty officiating.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 from 1:00 pm until the service hour.


 

Mr. Ernest Marion Redden, age 90, of Silver Creek, GA, passed away Sunday, April 25, 2021, in a local health care facility.

Mr. Redden was born in Floyd County, GA on January 3, 1931, son of the late Russell Redden and the late Lena Mae Swindle Redden.  He was also preceded in death by his wife, Adell Womack Redden and by a brother, Jack Redden.  Mr. Redden owned and operated Redden Lawn Mower Repair in Silver Creek for many years.  He was a member of Silver Creek Church of God.

Survivors include his daughter, Martha Jane Autry (Kevin), Rome, and a grandson, Stephen Palazzi, Adairsville.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at 2pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel.  The Rev. Michael Edwards will officiate.  Interment will follow in the Live Oak Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 27, 2021, from 5 until 7pm at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel.  At other hours, they may be contacted at their residence.

Pallbearers are asked to assemble at 1:30pm on Wednesday and include:  Stephen Palazzi, Kevin Autry, Steven Redden. David Redden, Joe Nails, and Charles Nails.


Mr. Charles Floyd Brock, age 82 of Rome, Georgia passed away at Redmond Regional Medical Center on April 17, 2021. Charles was born in Rome, Georgia on September 6, 1938, son of the late Henry Son Brock and the late Mary Green Brock.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela Lynn Brock, who he met and married in 1981. They were 6 months and 2 weeks away from their 40th anniversary this October 30, 2021. Charles was employed by Carpenter Local # 225 for over 30 years. He enjoyed Harley Davidson, his dogs, sports and country music.

Survivors include his 4 children, Lori Ann Brock Bailey, Regina Brock Rodriguez, William Kelly Brock, Shannon Brock, 8 grandchildren Carlos Santana Mascote, Alexander Jordan Brock, Caleb Aimes Brock, Harley Gage Brock, Isabella Rose Brock, twins, Edwin Luis and Andres Jose Rodriguez, Lillian Grace Lemos and one great-granddaughter, Mylah Love Mascote. Also, his pet kids, Max, Levi, Ted, and Athena.

Charles will be cremated. His cremains will be scattered on the family’s property in West Rome, where he loved “porch sitting” and “bird watching.” The Memorial service will be announced at a later date. Should family and friends wish, contributions may be sent to St. Jude Research Hospital, as Charles wished.

Mrs. Annette Abney Willkie, age 69, of Silver Creek, GA, passed away Sunday, April 25, 2021, at her residence.

Mrs. Willkie was born in Macon, GA on September 8, 1951, daughter of the late Robert Bryant Abney, Sr. and the late Annie Jo George Abney. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Lee Willkie and by a brother, Robert B. Abney, Jr. Mrs. Willkie was a 1969 graduate of Pepperell High School in Lindale. Prior to her retirement, she was employed with BellSouth as an Electronic Technician for over 31 years. Mrs. Willkie was a member of Pleasant Valley South Baptist Church.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Jaime Martin and Jessica Merritt, both of Silver Creek; 3 grandchildren, Brittany Tidwell (Chris), Justin Thomas Martin, Courtney Michelle Martin; 2 brothers, Edward W. Abney, Silver Creek, and Mark J. Abney, Cave Spring; nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021, at 4pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel. The Rev. Camille Josey will officiate.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Saturday from 3 pm until the service hour. Social distancing guidelines will be followed and masks are requested by the family.


Mr. Don Peek, age 77 Rockmart, Georgia, passed away on April 25, 2021. Services are incomplete at this time and will be announced at a later date.
