From the Georgia State Patrol:

On April 25, at approximately 8 p.m., troopers from the Georgia State Patrol Post 3 Cartersville responded to a two-vehicle crash, with a vehicle fire, on I-75 south at mile marker 288 (just south of the Main Street exit).

The crash involved a 2006 Nissan Altima, occupied by a 32-year-old male, a 3-year-old girl and an 8-month-old boy. The other vehicle involved was a tractor trailer which was disabled on the right shoulder. The Nissan was traveling south on I-75. The driver of the Nissan failed to maintain his lane of travel and exited onto the right side of I-75 and struck the left rear of the tractor trailer. After impact, the Nissan came to a final uncontrolled rest in the middle lane of travel becoming engulfed in flames.

Good samaritans removed the occupants from the Nissan. The 3-year-old was life flighted to Egleston Children’s Hospital in critical condition. The driver and the baby were transported to Kennestone hospital via ambulance.

The Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is assisting with this investigation.  These are the preliminary investigated findings and this crash is still under investigation.
