While not on the scale of the new Buc-ee’s soon to open near Calhoun or even the closer-by Love’s, RaceTrac has considerable plans for Red Top Mountain Road and Joe Frank Harris Parkway in Emerson.

The state’s Development of Regional Impact summary shows a $9.2 million buildout of the site. Included would be an 8,100-square-foot RaceTrac “market”  (the newer RaceTracs in Northwest Georgia are around 5,500 square feet each) as well as associated fuel pumps, parking, truck fueling and truck parking. It would be at the northeast corner of Red Top Mountain Road off U.S. 41 west of Interstate 75.

A similar application has been filed by RaceTrac for the Valdosta area but this one would be redevelopment of an existing campus.

Todd Heath with the city of Emerson says the project will require some annexation by the city. Around six acres of the 24 acres under review would be developed for the store and fueling/service areas, Heath says.

It would include six diesel island and nine traditional fuel islands with a combined 18 pumps.

We have notes into RaceTrac for additional updates. The company has been a big player in opening more traditional stores in Floyd, Bartow and Gordon counties in recent years. An affilited Raceway store also is under construction in West Rome.
