State Patrol: U.S. 411 accident near Etowah bridge kills Gadsden man.

According to the Georgia State Patrol:
On April 7, 2021,  at approximately 5:21 p.m., a black Hyundai Veloster was traveling west on U.S. 411in the left lane at a high rate of speed approaching Macedonia Road. The driver of a vehicle ahead observed the Hyundai approaching at a high rate of speed. The driver of that vehicle started to change lanes to allow the Hyundai to pass. The driver of the Hyundai, Mr. Jeremy Dakota Moon (30, of Gadsden, Ala.)  sideswiped that vehicle with the left side of the Hyundai.  After impact, Mr. Moon lost control of the Hyundai and it began to overturn several times.  Mr. Moon suffered fatal injuries.

FIRST REPORT

The Georgia State Patrol and other first responders are on the scene of a major accident on U.S. 411 close to the Macedonia Road intersection near the Etowah River bridge. Area motorists who are in the traffic jam heading back into Floyd County say the Bartow County Coroner’s Office is the scene as well.

Please avoid 411 until further notice. Cut over to Ga. 293 on the north side of the highway or Chulio Road to the south. You can connect back with 411 after you pass the accident scene.
