Mrs. Margaret Wright Davis, age 75, of Rome, GA, passed away on Friday, April 2, 2021 at her home.

Mrs. Davis was born in Bainbridge, GA on April 6, 1945, daughter of the late Charlie Paul Wright Jr. and Margaret Missouri Wright. She started school in a 2 room school house, later graduating from Bainbridge High in 1963. Later she went on to Berry College, graduating 1969 with a degree in English. Most of her teaching years were spent in Floyd County and Rome City Schools. She retired in 1999 after 30 years of teaching.

She is survived by her loving husband, Jimmy, of 49 years; Brother, Paul (Rita) and niece Ann; Sister in law, Patricia Spradley (Chip); Several nephews and nieces.

A funeral service for Mrs. Davis will be conducted on April 7th, 2021 at 2pm in the Sanctuary of Garden Lakes Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Ethel Frances Evans was born on March 3, 1940 and passed away on April 4, 2021. Daniel’s Funeral Home.


Ms. Rachel Eugene Johnson, age 80, of Lindale, passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2021, at a local hospital.

Ms. Johnson was born in Rome, Georgia on January 15, 1941, daughter of the late J. C. Adams and the late Mattie Boozer Martin.  She was also preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Adams.  Mrs. Johnson was a member of East Rome Baptist Church.  Ms. Johnson worked for Dillinger’s for several years, at General Electric in Rome until it closed, at K-Mart for several years and then retired from Suhner.

Survivors include a son, Dewayne Johnson (Martha Neighbors), Lindale; a daughter, Marilyn Trotter (David), Rome; nine grandchildren, Michael Davis (Mara), Kristin Davis, Erica Bobo (T. J.), Kevin Trotter (Delfina), Andrea Hulsey, Jennifer Eubanks (Steve), Justin Trotter (Amber), Charlie McGinnis (Misty), and Tiffany Loftis (Dustin); 20 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 9, 2021, at 11am in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Charles Lively officiating and her granddaughter, Kristin Davis, delivering the eulogy.  Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home South Chapel, on Thursday from 5 until 7pm.  At other hours, the family may be contacted at Merilyn’s residence.  Social distancing measures will be followed, and masks are requested.

Pallbearers are asked to assemble at 10:30am and include: Active: Kevin Trotter, Dugan Collum, Charlie McGinnis, Landon Clark, Frank Wynn, Josh Jones, and Dustin Loftis. Honorary: Cameron Jones and Hayden Jones.


Mrs. Linda Diane Graves, age 64, of Rome, GA, passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2021, at her residence.

Linda was born in Floyd County, GA on April 29, 1956, the daughter of the late Ernest Dunagan and the late Mary Smith Dunagan. She worked for 25 years at Rome Dye Casting. She was a good wife, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of almost 31 years, David R. Graves, Sr.; her children, Angela Vicente (Cesar), Jody Wells, Joel Wells, and David R. Graves, Jr.; her grandchildren, Brittany Pope (Steven), Courtney Pope (Sam), Taylor Wells, Skyler Wells, Ansley Wells and Gregory Wells; her great grandchildren, Saif, Kamdyn, Salimah, Nash, Zamir, Zoey and Braily; her brother, Lance Dunagan (Amanda); her niece, Rebecca Dunagan; her nephew, Zach Dunagan; her friend, Martha Pierce.

In keeping with Linda’s wishes, she will be cremated.
