Monday-Wednesday: Floyd County Public Works will close Big Texas Valley Road, near #4053, to replace a cross drain. The road will be closed starting Monday morning until 5 p.m. on Wednesday. The location is just east of Mountain View Drive. All access to Oglethorpe Power and the Rocky Mountain Recreation and Fishing Area will need to come from the west end of Big Texas Valley.
Tuesday-Thursday: The Spring Plant Sale at Georgia Northwestern Technical College returns. On Tuesday, April 6, the sale will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 6 p.m. The sale will continue on Wednesday, April 7 and Thursday, April 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Purchases may be made with cash or check. Items being sold include large selections of annuals, perennials, vegetables, herbs, hanging baskets, blooming plants and potted geraniums. The vegetables will include tomatoes, peppers, squash, cucumbers, eggplants and more. It will be first come, first serve on availability. The sale will take place at the greenhouses located across from GNTC’s Floyd County Campus, next to the Woodlee Building. All proceeds from the plant sale will benefit the Horticulture program at GNTC. For health and safety precautions, social distancing guidelines will be in effect and employees, students and guests are asked to wear protective face coverings.
Friday-Saturday: Rome Little Theatre returns to the DeSoto for a live in-person production of Love Letters by A.R. Gurney on April 9, 10 and next weekend, April 16 & 17. The play features two casts who will be alternating performances. Actors Scott McDaniel and Jenny Wear will perform April 9 and 17. Brian Hales and RLT newcomer Cynthia Hubler will perform April 10 and 16. Love Letters is directed by Emily Earp and produced by Chris Davidson. Seating capacity is limited to 15%, parties will be socially distanced, and masks are required at all times. A pre-show talk begins 20 minutes before curtain. Tickets are $18 for adults, $16 for students and seniors, and $14 for children (prices include $2 facility and ticketing fees).
