Strawberry season is just about here. The crew at LCCL Strawberry Farm is just about ready to start the 2021 retail season. Northwest Georgia’s most popular agricultural tourism spot is off Old Dalton Road just north of the Ga. 140 intersection. Click location. The official word, as of Sunday: “We hope in the next couple of weeks. We picked a few today!” Your best bet is to like the very active Facebook page for hours, picking times and what’s available. A must is the strawberry ice cream.

Crews were on the site early Saturday morning preparing the foundation for what we believe will be Fazoli’s, a fast-concept Italian spot joining the East Bend food options off Turner McCall and Hicks. Hometown photo.

It appears work is under way on Northwest Georgia’s second Fazoli’s franchise, this one at East Bend in Rome. Bids for the site, valued at $500,000 to $1 million and based at  42 Hicks Drive SE, were solicited in February. Amit Patel developed the first franchise, at 21 S. Dixie Ave., which opened last June. He’s behind the Rome operation as well. The Construction Journal says to expect a one-story restaurnt on the 0.88 of an acre site with 3,367 square feet under roof. The menu.
