Child Abuse Prevention Month events begin. On Thursday, the annual Placement of the Pinwheels took place at the Rome-Floyd Chamber. The pinwheels symbolize the help, hope, and healing that agencies and individuals bring to families in our community. Come and place a pinwheel to demonstrate your continued commitment to helping Floyd County children and families grow and thrive in a safe, stable, connected, and nurturing community. Attendees must wear a mask that covers face and nose and practice social-distancing during the event.
Oher events planned this month:

Glow Walk—April 23, 7:30 p.m.
Gather in the parking lot of the Serve Rome Building (behind the Rome First United Methodist Church sanctuary on East Second Street) and pick up your own Glow-in-the-Dark Pinwheel. At 7:30 p.m., we will walk together to the Chamber of Commerce office to place our pinwheels and recognize the Family Resource Center’s Second Annual Poetry Contest Winners, the 2021 RFCCCY George Pullen Award recipients, and the 2021 “Katie Dempsey Star Volunteer Award” recipient. After a few short words, we’ll take a photo and invite attendees to enjoy downtown Rome. Attendees must wear a mask that covers their face and nose and practice social-distancing during the event (please help us keep our community safe).
ABC of Safe Sleep class: Register to participate in an online learning course about sleep safety for newborns/infants. Individuals who do not have a crib for their baby are eligible to receive a free pack-and-play with bassinet after successfully completing the class (made possible by the Junior Service League of Rome).
