Pinwheels placed as Child Abuse Prevention Month begins. Other events include ‘Blue Mondays,’ discussions.

Child Abuse Prevention Month events begin. On Thursday, the annual Placement of the Pinwheels took place at the Rome-Floyd Chamber.  The pinwheels symbolize the help, hope, and healing that agencies and individuals bring to families in our community. Come and place a pinwheel to demonstrate your continued commitment to helping Floyd County children and families grow and thrive in a safe, stable, connected, and nurturing community. Attendees must wear a mask that covers face and nose and practice social-distancing during the event.

Oher events planned this month:

Blue Mondays and “Believe in the Blue”– Each Monday in April

Wear blue each Monday in April and show your support of child abuse prevention!  Wear blue, take a selfie, and share at https://www.facebook.com/exchangeclubfrc  #RomeCAP2021

Exchange Club of Rome—Presentation on April 23, noon

LaDonna Collins, Director of the Rome/Floyd County Commission on Children and Youth, will be the speaker at this meeting.  Come hear her presentation as she shares more about the light of prevention. Please register by emailing tina@exchangeclubfrc.org

Glow Walk—April 23, 7:30 p.m.

Gather in the parking lot of the Serve Rome Building (behind the Rome First United Methodist Church sanctuary on East Second Street) and pick up your own Glow-in-the-Dark Pinwheel. At 7:30 p.m., we will walk together to the Chamber of Commerce office to place our pinwheels and recognize the Family Resource Center’s Second Annual Poetry Contest Winners, the 2021 RFCCCY George Pullen Award recipients, and the 2021 “Katie Dempsey Star Volunteer Award” recipient. After a few short words, we’ll take a photo and invite attendees to enjoy downtown Rome.  Attendees must wear a mask that covers their face and nose and practice social-distancing during the event (please help us keep our community safe).
