Freeze watch for Northwest Georgia from midnight until 10 a.m. Friday: We could see temperatures in the upper 20s overnight. No mention yet of a potential black ice threat early Friday. “Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.”

Rainfall from 2 a.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday:

  • Rome: 1.60 inches.
  • Cartersville: 1.53 inches.
  • Calhoun: 1.58 inches.

FORECAST

Wednesday Night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 8pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 8pm and 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 34. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
