A shout out on Good Morning, America was one thing. But a mention from Oprah magazine? That’s huge for Cabell’s Designs on Bale Street in Rome’s River District. The nod from the queen of media is in the spring edition of Oprah’s publication. Here’s how Cabell Sweeney and crew posted it on Instagram Tuesday:
The Marietta-based parent of the Rome News-Tribune and affiliated newspapers is growing again. Times-Journal Inc. has purchased the weekly Morgan County Citizen in Madison, a good bit east of Atlanta off I-20.
An announcement posted on the Madison website shows Patrick and Dianne Yost founded Main Street Communications, Inc., the parent company of the Citizen and Lake Oconee Living, in 1997. In 2001 the company purchased The Madisonian and merged the two newspapers. (The two had been intense rivals for several years).
Times-Journal publishes daily and weekly newspapers, magazines and operates news websites in central and north Georgia, including the Marietta Daily Journal, the Rome News-Tribune, Cherokee Tribune/Ledger news and two dozen more weeklies including Calhoun and Polk County. Expanded report.
