Ms. Martha C. Cooper, age 89, of Rome, GA, passed away on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at an assisted living facility in LaFayette, Georgia.

Ms. Cooper was born in Gordon County, Georgia on February 25, 1932, the daughter of the late John L. Carden and the late Wilma Overton Carden. She was a member of Shannon First Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and participated in the card ministry. She loved to sew and made her daughter prom dresses and her wedding dress. Her coworkers, church family and friends were her family. She was always ready to feed whoever happened to be at her home at mealtime. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Lee Tate, and by her niece, Judy Folsom.

She is survived by her children, Karen Ball (David) of LaFayette and Steve Cooper (Joyce) of Rome; her grandchildren, Clint Ball of Huntsville, AL, Jacob Ball of Australia and Michael Cooper of Athens, GA; her great grandchildren, Blaine Ball of Summerville and Alexandra Ball of Huntsville, AL; her niece, Rosa Rickman (David); several cousins and great nieces.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at 2:00pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, with the Rev. Louis Byars officiating. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Sunday at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, from 12:30 pm until the service hour.

Pallbearers are asked to assemble at  1:30pm on Sunday and include: Dennis Ratliff, Jeff Ratliff, Kelvin Ratliff, David Rickman, Ricky Coker and Max Coker.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ms. Cooper’s church, Shannon First Baptist Church, in her memory.

Mr. Scott Dennis Hayes Jr., age 40, of Rome, Georgia, passed away on March 22, 2021.

The son of Scott Dennis Hayes Sr. and the late Donna Garrett, he was born August 25, 1980 in Rome, Georgia. He attended school in the Baltimore Public School system and was part of the 1999 graduating class of Randallstown High School in Baltimore, Maryland.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to Cherieshia Hayes on April 14, 2009. This union was blessed with six beautiful children. Junior prematurely, departed this life on Monday, March 22, 2021 at Floyd Medical Center surrounded by his beloved family. He was proceeded in death by his beautiful mother, Donna, in 2017, Aunt, Venetta Garrett in 2004, Uncle, Gerusta “Moose” Garrett in 2010, and Uncle, Jeffery Edmondson in 2020.

His incredibly vibrant life will forever be cherished by his wife, Cherieshia, and in the lives of his children, Jamiyus of Shiloh, GA, Zdiaviya, Skyy, Donnaven, Da’nere, all of Upatoi, GA; Heavenly, Imani, and Cevyn, all of Rome, GA; Sisters, Donna Felicia Ann Hayes of Baltimore, MD, Chantel Garrett, of Columbia, SC, Dianndra Lula Nicole Gay, of Starkville, MS; his only little brother, Trenace “Tre” Charles Perkins of Rome, GA; Four Aunts, Francis Thompson, Cleo Mooring, Sandra Cunningham, and Reecie (Rodney) Jackson, all of Rome, GA; Three Uncles, Thurman (Ernestine) Cunningham, Randy Garrett, and Dexter Garrett, all of Rome, GA; Special Cousins, Cornelius Brown, Omar Thompson, Terrance Stocks, Courtney Williams, and his sidekick, Dante Edmondson, all of Rome, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends also survive.

Mr. Joseph A. Burns, age 86, of Rome, GA, passed away Thursday, March 25, 2021, in a local hospital.

Arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced later by Salmon Funeral Home.

Frances Jauita Jones Parm, age 78 of Cedar Bluff, Al. passed away Wednesday March 24, 2021 at her residence.

Mrs. Parm was born November 9, 1942, in Summerville, a daughter of the late Charles Jones and Bertie Mantooth Jones. She was preceded in death by her husband, R. C. Parm, one grandchild, and several siblings.

Survivors include her children, Harold (Melanie) Parm, Jerry (Brenda) Parm, Ronald Parm, Lisa (Chris) Bonner, sisters, Mattie Brookshire, Rachel (Junior) Parm, Betty Jones, 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday March 30, 2021 at Floyd Memory Gardens, with Rev. Lamont Kiser, officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, on Tuesday.
