Shooting victim Scott Dennis Hayes has died as a result of his gunshot wounds following Monday morning’s attack, Rome Police report. He had been in critical condition at Floyd Medical Center after being shot in the head and back. The suspect, Jeffrey Shedrick, has been additionally charged with felony murder and tampering with evidence. He remains in the Floyd County Jail.

Details surrounding the 10 a.m. Monday shooting are still coming together. “The victim is a 39-year-old black male whose last known condition was being taken to surgery. The Rome Police Department will send a release as soon as more information is available,” says Assistant Chief Debbie Burnett.
