Strip center at Broad Street and Eighth Avenue on the market in what has become a busy few blocks in downtown Rome.

With so much focus on Broad Street comings and goings and all the River District ideas, what isn’t getting as much attention is the activity just off Broad Street.

The latest offering is the small strip center created by Larry and Barry Alford of Twins Commercial Properties from the former Expert Tire location in 2014. Now a series of shops, from cleaners to a law practice to a maid service, it is on the market for $799,000. Kimberly Prusakowski of Hardy Realty has the listing. The synopsis: “Incredible income property in downtown Rome – long term, established tenants in a prime location.”

The center includes 5,840 square feet under roof and sides on East Eighth Avenue. Larry Alford calls it a “great piece of real estate. We are just focusing on other projects in near future.”

What else is happening in that area:

  • Just around the corner, on East First Street, the former church at the intersection behind Hardee’s just sold.
  • Roger Manis completed the purchase of the former Georgia Power building in late 2019 (now the Manis Business Center). That was a $1.6 million deal.
  • The Riverbend Off Broad townhome project has just cleared needed hurdles to add more units. They’ll now stretch from Sixth to Eighth avenues along East Third Street. Current units are listed at $259,000 by Toles, Temple & Wright (Sharon Mathis).
  • And there’s still the fate of the former Comcast office on East First now that the successor Xfinity store has opened at East Bend.
