Education: Floyd County Schools announces Kindergarten Round Up for 2021-22. Darlington’s latest scholarship offers.

In August, Pre K students will begin kindergarten where they will continue to grow and learn. Floyd County Schools would like to extend an invitation to any Pre K-aged child not currently enrolled in FCS Pre K classes to participate in Kindergarten Round Up happening now through Friday, May 14, 2021.

Children must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2021. Parents should contact the school prior to completing online registration if they are unsure which attendance area they reside in, or if they are wanting to apply out-of-district.

To enroll for Kindergarten for School Year 2021-2022, parents need to do the following by Friday, May 14, 2021:

  • Complete online registration by visiting www.FloydBOE.net
  • Bring these documents to the school office:
  • TWO Proofs of Residence (Birth Certificate, Social Security Card, Immunization Records (DHR 3231), Eye, Ear, Dental and Nutrition Screening (DHR 3300)

FCS Schools with Kindergarten Classrooms:

  • Armuchee Attendance Area- Glenwood Primary
  • Coosa Attendance Area – Alto Park Elementary, Cave Spring Elementary, Garden Lakes Elementary
  • Model Attendance Area – Johnson Elementary, Model Elementary
  • Pepperell Attendance Area- Pepperell Primary

From Darlington: The following college scholarships were reported to the College Guidance Office between Feb. 1 and March 1:

  • Adam Albar has earned a $64,000 Academic Scholarship from Baylor University. He is the son of Blake Albar of Atlanta.
  • Angelina Laramie has earned a $128,000 Presidential Scholarship from Rhodes College and an $8,000 Charter Scholarship from the University of Georgia. She is the daughter of Jenn and Chris Stevenson of Cumming, Ga.
  • Holly Raper has earned a $96,000 Out-of-State Scholar Scholarship from the University of Alabama. She is the daughter of April and Neely Raper of Rome.
  • Elle Smith has earned a $72,000 Beacon Scholarship from the University of Tennessee Knoxville. She is the daughter of Brenda and Wade Hoyt of Rome.
