Becky Hood, the current chair of the Gordon County Commission, is the subject of an investigation by the GBI.
According to Natalie L. Ammons, the GBI’s deputy director of public affairs:
- The GBI agency was requested by the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office on Jan. 26 to initiate an investigation.
- The Sheriff’s Office and District Attorney’s Office have recused themselves from the investigation.
- The Georgia Attorney General’s Office will appoint a prosecutor to review the case when it is completed and will advise if and what charges will be filed.
- Because this is an open investigation, no other details are available for release at this time.
Hood, a Republican, was re-elected to a four-year term in 2018. This is her fourth term on the commission, having been re-elected in 2010 and 2014 as well. Her Facebook page lists EffecTV as her employer, a division of Comcast. She’s identified as an advertising account executive.
We have notes into Hood for comment .
On Friday, Gordon County government posted the following note on Facebook in response to a story appearing in The Calhoun Times. It states, in part:
“County officials are confident that this investigation does not involve any allegations pertaining to county business or Mrs. Hood’s service to Gordon County as a commissioner. Gordon County has no further statement about this matter at this time.”
