Due later this year, the Texas-based convenience store chain Buc-ee’s campus near Calhoun is flying together. The above photo, courtesy of Hutton Construction out of Chattanooga, gives you a quick look at the 126 “fuel handles” on the right side fo the photograph as well as the 53,000-square-foot store itself.
You can see now at 250 Johnson Lake Road, just off I-75 in Gordon County. We checked in with Jeff Nadalo, a spokesman for Buc-ee’s, on Monday. His update: “We are still progressing on schedule.”
What we know so far:
- Buc-ee’s will employ around 200 people. As of Monday, none of the jobs were posted on the corporate site — but it does list the Calhoun location.
- The store will sell “barbecue, homemade fudge, kolaches, Beaver nuggets, jerky and fresh pastries. In addition, Buc-ee’s stores feature a large selection of clothing and home decor items,” Nadalo said in an earlier conversation.
- The chain’s first store in Georgia, at 7001 Russell Parkway in Fort Valley, opened in November.
